Duncan is a qualified Naval Architect, a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects (FRINA). His experience has been mainly in:

• Drilling rig contracting: including MODU, platform and land rigs
• Single-point mooring, floating production and multifunctional service/ emergency support vessel design and marketing
  
• Ship and mobile offshore rig design and construction

Internationally, his experience covers all the continents of the world and, more specifically with regard to the three main areas above, as follows:

• Rig contracting and marketing in all theatres
• Single point mooring marketing worldwide and especially in West Africa and Caribbean
• Ship and rig construction in UK, Finland, Norway, Korea, India and Singapore

Through his own company, Weir International, Duncan provides management consultancy services in relation to the segments noted above and additionally:

• Agency: Having current contacts in many countries Worldwide
• Brokerage: Sale and purchase of rigs and offshore equipment
• Training: Sharing of wide experience of drilling rig contracting
• Independent Expert Witness
• Marketing and business development: Planning, strategies, tactics and implementation
